Build confident foundations in composite bonding
Art of Foundations is a two-day, foundation-level composite bonding course designed to simplify resin dentistry and build confidence in shape, form and simple single- or dual-layering techniques. The course is almost entirely hands-on, supported by live step-by-step teaching and looping instructional videos, so delegates can develop practical skills while learning efficient, predictable protocols.
What you’ll learn
Day one combines practical training and lectures on:
- Smile design and tooth proportions
- The Modified Stent Technique for facial volume
- Freehand edge bonding for centrals, laterals and canines
- Finishing and polishing using a simple three-step method
- The ideal consultation and anterior tooth anatomy
- Facial and smile design principles
- Colour and shade selection
- Material comparisons and choosing materials for each case
- Case selection and planning for starting a resin journey
- Trial smiles, isolation and key occlusal considerations
Day two develops practical and clinical decision-making skills through:
- The AOR Well Technique for polychromatic effects
- The Window Cut Back Technique
- Predictable diastema closure
- Simple and layered composite veneers on canines and premolars
- Occlusion and predictable restoration parameters
- Patient communication upgrades
- Approaching more advanced smile-design cases
- Ideal resin parameters and predictable results
- Advanced options and long-term success, including 10-year recall cases
Tutor and course benefits
The course is taught by Dr. Rhodri Thomas, Founder of Art of Dentistry. It awards 16 hours of CE/CPD for the in-person course and includes a 200+ page clinical course book, online and post-course learning resources, use of all course materials and equipment, lunch and refreshments, and an invitation to a social hour after the first day. Delegates also receive membership of the International Art of Dentistry community.
No previous composite experience is required: the course is suitable for all capabilities and career stages, while being geared mainly towards beginners. Dental therapists are also welcome. Loupes are encouraged if available but are not essential, and no equipment purchase is required after the course. The course is offered as an in-person experience, with interest-registration locations including London, Toronto, New York, Antwerp, Los Angeles and Amsterdam.
