Level 1 (Core)

Build a solid foundation for safe and appropriate CBCT use:

• Fundamentals of 3D imaging: what CBCT is and how it works
• Risks and doses associated with CBCT and comparison to 2D imaging
• Regulations relating to CBCT imaging
• Selection criteria and relevant guidelines (with an endodontic focus)
• Common artefacts and the factors that affect image quality

Level 2 (Dentoalveolar justification & reporting)

Develop the skills to work with datasets and describe findings clearly:

• Dentoalveolar and relevant maxillofacial anatomy
• How to manipulate a CBCT dataset
• Using appropriate radiological terminology to describe abnormalities
• Recognising common jaw diseases and their CBCT appearance
• Using CBCT to optimise endodontic diagnosis
• How to write CBCT reports for the dentoalveolar region
• Knowing when to refer for a second opinion—and understanding that fields of view beyond the dentoalveolar region should be reported by a radiologist
